PPA’s (Power Purchase Agreements)
PPA’s are a contract between utilities and businesses between 5 and 20 years whereby businesses agree to purchase energy at a pre-negotiated price. It is a financing vehicle used to pay for solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources.
The benefits of PPA’s are price certainty since energy costs are volatile. There are generally more sourcing energy provider options with PPA’s than with traditional utility companies which provides stronger negotiating leverage for businesses.
